Education Issues Discussed in Brazzaville

The challenges and prospects for the development of the educational system in the Republic of the Congo took center stage at a round table organized by the association GlobUs. The event brought together representatives from government institutions, educational leaders, teachers, students, and their parents.

The discussion focused on the theme: « Education in the Republic of the Congo: Current Challenges and Prospects. » The primary objective was to identify the systemic difficulties facing the Congolese school system and to explore effective mechanisms for improving the quality of education.

The round table was divided into two sessions, during which participants exchanged views on how to overcome current challenges and create conditions for the sustainable development of the education sector.

One of the key topics addressed was the financing of schools.

« Many schools in the education sector require subsidies to ensure a better future, » emphasized Alain Claude Dangouama, a representative from a department within the Ministry of Education, highlighting the urgency of this issue.

Meanwhile, Nyangi Brice, a representative from Marien Ngouabi University, underscored the need to adapt educational processes to local conditions. He proposed developing curricula that take into account the specific realities of the country and improving the quality of instruction.

Following the event, participants were introduced to the « Workshop of the Future » (« Atelier de l’avenir ») competition, organized by the digital platform Avenir.cg. Applications are now being accepted, and a gala event is scheduled to take place at the Palais des Congrès in December.

At the conclusion of the meeting, participants expressed their satisfaction with the dialogue. According to the organizers, the GlobUs initiative is intended to contribute to the national conversation regarding the future of education. The results of the round table are expected to serve as a basis for developing concrete proposals that will enable more Congolese people to gain access to quality education.

A View from Germany: Alexander von Bismarck on How History Is Being Preserved in Kaliningrad

A descendant of “Iron Chancellor” Otto von Bismarck and partner of the GlobUs expert club, Alexander von Bismarck, is touring Russia. In his videos from Kaliningrad, he describes how Russia is restoring its historical heritage and calls on Germany to resume dialogue.

He said he saw how carefully memory is preserved in Kaliningrad. This includes the restoration of the Bismarck Tower and the Ragnit Castle (Neman).

“I’m standing in front of the ruins of the Bismarck Tower. The Russians are currently restoring it. They have a completely different culture of memory. We Germans could follow their example,” he said.

Bismarck also noted the scale of changes in Kaliningrad itself, where he had been decades ago.

“The city is amazing; it’s been incredibly transformed. There wasn’t such order before, but now it looks magnificent. We need contact with the Russian people; we need to return to rapprochement,” he emphasized.

With Ragnit Castle as the backdrop, the politician called for direct communication between peoples, noting that the restoration of the castle as a cultural project where Russian and German music will be performed is an example of a move toward reconciliation.

“The Russians are reaching out to the Germans. We must do the same and promote contacts between our peoples. This will bring about the peace we need and desire,” von Bismarck concluded.

«A multipolar world is not a split, but an opportunity for dialogue»: Rishabh Sethi on the results of the BRICS Forum

The 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum, timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the association, concluded in New Delhi. International relations expert and GlobUs member Rishabh Sethi discussed why cultural exchange and parliamentary diplomacy are becoming key tools for bringing countries closer together.

According to him, the forum’s final declaration reaffirmed a commitment to sovereign equality and multilateralism, as well as strengthening the voice of the Global South.

«Public diplomacy remains one of BRICS’s key strengths. Literature, cinema, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges help countries understand each other beyond official meetings,» he noted.

Sethi emphasized that multipolarity is not a split, but an expansion of opportunities.

«A multipolar world should be understood as an opportunity for broader participation, respectful dialogue, and shared responsibility, not as division. Countries can preserve their unique civilizational identities by working together toward common goals,» the expert stated.

He also emphasized the importance of the parliamentary dimension. According to him, the active participation of the Russian delegation, led by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, underscored the value of practical cooperation.

«People-to-people ties can give new impetus to our friendship. BRICS is a valuable platform for uniting cultures and building international understanding,» he concluded.

The digital social platform Avenir.cg was presented to students at a lyceum in Brazzaville

On October 28, representatives of the Avenir.cg digital platform, together with the GlobUs association, presented this tool to students at the Lycée de la Révolution in Brazzaville. The goal of the event was to introduce the students to the platform’s functionality and the opportunities it offers Congolese youth.

During the meeting, platform representatives explained the concept of Avenir.cg, emphasizing access to opportunities for social and professional growth, supporting talent, and promoting youth initiatives.

Using Avenir.cg, users can complete tasks and accumulate points, which can then be exchanged for rewards, as well as propose their own projects that contribute to the development of Congo.

The meeting generated keen interest among the students: they asked numerous questions to better understand how the platform works and the opportunities it offers them.

This presentation marked a new stage in the use of Avenir.cg in the educational environment. The main goal is to transform digital technologies into a tool for engagement, innovation, and the comprehensive development of Congolese youth.

Following the presentation, a quiz was held, at the end of which eight students received prizes.

“Education Should Teach How to Think, Not What to Think”: GlobUs Experts on Strategic Independence

In a world where technology and information have become weapons, education is no longer simply a social service. GlobUs experts discussed how it is becoming a tool for strategic independence on the “Global Insight” program.

Pan-African researcher Paseka Pharumele noted that the colonial past still influences curricula.

“Western knowledge was imposed on us as superior. We must put African approaches at the center. Like China, which built its system based on its own ideas,” he stated.

Geopolitical analyst Caleb Maupin pointed to the crisis of the Western system and the “brain drain.”

“American education is a national disgrace. Instead of training our own engineers and doctors, we are luring them away from developing countries, depriving these countries of the specialists they need. At the same time, the BRICS countries are investing in their own citizens and developing their economies,” he emphasized.

Dragana Trifkovic, Director of the Center for Geostrategic Studies in Serbia, noted that the social sciences and humanities are currently most vulnerable to political pressure.

“In the exact sciences, results can be verified experimentally, while history and political science can easily be tailored to a desired narrative. Therefore, the main task of universities is to teach how to think, not what to think,” she explained.

International relations expert Professor Jagdish Khatri called for a balance between technology and the humanities.

“We have become too enamored with technology and have forgotten about morality, ethics, and compassion. Knowledge must be accessible, affordable, and adaptable to local conditions. Our motto should be: local roots, global aspirations,” he concluded.

Experts agreed: without a sovereign education free from external dictates, political independence remains a mere formality.

“Tourism is not just about economics; it’s a tool for diplomacy”: Rishabh Sethi on the role of youth within BRICS

At a strategic session on tourism held during the BRICS+ Business Forum in St. Petersburg, Rishabh Sethi — an expert analyst in international relations, BRICS affairs, and public diplomacy, and a member of GlobUs — noted that the BRICS architecture rests on three pillars: political security, economic cooperation, and humanitarian diplomacy.

“Tourism should not be viewed merely as an isolated economic sector. It is an indispensable tool for public diplomacy, capable of overcoming contemporary geopolitical tensions,” he stated.

According to Mr. Sethi, youth exchanges are of particular importance. In an era marked by information wars and polarization, young travelers serve as “cultural ambassadors.”

“They document their authentic experiences, share them on social media, and directly dismantle stereotypes. Direct interaction allows people to learn about the history and traditions of their partners firsthand — a fact already demonstrated by exchange programs between India and Russia over the past year,” Mr. Sethi remarked.

He added that the harmonization of tourism protocols and the development of new tourism products represent practical steps toward a multipolar world.

Furthermore, Mr. Sethi met with the Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, and the President of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), Alexander Shokhin. During these discussions, the GlobUs member emphasized the importance of deep integration among BRICS nations to foster sustainable and mutually beneficial cooperation across the Global South.
