Марена (Морана, Маржана, Мара) — славянская богиня смерти, зимы и перерождения. Она собирает души павших, помогает младенцам перейти из Нави в Явь. С ней связаны мор, морок, кошмар, марево, «заморочить», «не морочь голову». Кульминация её дней — Масленица. В конце зимы чучело Марены из соломы, одетое в тряпьё или праздничную одежду, несли с песнями за село и сжигали. Пепел разбрасывали по полям — на урожай, защиту от мора, пожаров и наводнений, а девушкам — на замужество. Кто не участвовал в обряде, боялся смерти в семье. Марена — не просто смерть. Она уносит отжившее и даёт место новому. Зимний сон — весеннее пробуждение — расцвет — увядание. Жизнь–смерть–жизнь. Поэтому Мара соединяет рождение, плодородие и смерть, без которой нет продолжения жизни. Её символ — равновесие: 4 стороны света, 4 стихии, 4 времени года.❄️🌿🍂

Цена любопытства
На краю забытого всеми ущелья, подобный нахмурившейся скале, высился древний замок Чёрной Розы. Его острые башни впивались в свинцовое небо, а слепые окна-бойницы напоминали глаза покойника. Все двери в нём были наглухо заперты, храня молчание веков.
Однажды юная Лира решила их проверить. Ею двигала не жажда богатства, но ненасытное стремление к знаниям. Она знала: здесь бесследно исчез последний граф из рода Торнвейтов, талантливый алхимик и мистик. За каждой дверью таилась тайна его трудов. Но заперты они были не случайно. Старинное предание гласило: «Не буди спящие тени, не ищи того, что сокрыто для вечного сна».
Лира забыла о запрете. Словно неведомая сила вела её сквозь пыльные лабиринты коридоров. Серебряный ключ с гербом Торнвейтов, найденный в заброшенной библиотеке, отпирал одну дверь за другой. И за каждой её ждало чудо, оборачивавшееся предостережением.
В одной комнате механические птицы из позолоченных шестерёнок заводили песнь на мёртвом языке. В другом зале зеркало являло не отражение, а тёмные мысли смотрящего. В золочёных кладовых, среди гор золота и самоцветов, стоял искрящийся скелет. Едва Лира приблизилась, кости его с тихим перезвоном рассыпались, дабы через миг собраться вновь — немое напоминание, что всё в этом месте лишь иллюзия и прах.
Из мрака следующего коридора на неё пахнуло ледяным дыханием, и возник лохматый зверь. Его спутанная шерсть была покрыта инеем, а глаза горели тусклым зелёным огнём. Лира бросилась прочь, спиной чувствуя ледяное дыхание преследователя. Чудом ускользнув, она захлопнула тяжёлую дверь и вбежала в грандиозный зал с мраморными колоннами.
Меж них, словно живой барельеф, скользил исполинский ящер. Его чешуя переливалась, словно полированный малахит, а холодный разумный взгляд заставлял кровь стынуть в жилах. Он не был стражем — он был воплощением неумолимой и древней силы самого замка. Под самым сводом клубились тени, принимая обличья былых обитателей. «Уйди, дитя света, — шелестели они, словно сухие листья. — Здесь нет жизни, лишь вечное эхо былых ошибок».
Но Лира не слышала предостережений. Её влекла тайна, манил лабиринт коридоров. И вот, в самом сердце замка, её ожидала последняя дверь, массивная и почерневшая от времени.
Скрипнув, дверь отворилась, и Лира замерла на пороге. Внутри не было ни сокровищ, ни чудовищ. Комната была пуста, если не считать зеркала в полный рост, стоявшего напротив. В его глубине она увидела не своё отражение, а лик демона.
«Ты обрела мой величайший секрет, — прозвучал голос в её сознании, холодный и металлический. — Секрет не вечной жизни, а вечного заточения. Я заключил душу в эту гладь, дабы обмануть смерть. Но любая тюрьма требует стража».
Лира почувствовала, как её воля тает, уступая древней, чужой силе. Она поняла: демон искал выход. И её любопытство, её безрассудная отвага стали тем ключом, которого он ждал все эти долгие столетия. Тень отделилась от зеркала и потянулась к ней.
За последней дверью её ждала не физическая смерть… Она стала новой хозяйкой замка, сменив уставшего от бессмертия демона, — вечной пленницей собственного любопытства.
Финал этой истории печален. И урок его прост: не всякое знание несёт свет, некоторые тайны лучше оставить неразгаданными…
