Вид на Центральную гостиницу.
Здание гостиницы построено по проекту И.А.Чарушина на территории взорванного в 1936 г. Воскресенского собора. Несмотря на почти полное отсутствие механизации на стройке, возведение здания шло очень быстро, и уже в 1937г. гостиница была сдана в эксплуатацию. Помимо номеров для постояльцев, в учреждении располагались также парикмахерская, почта, продуктовый магазин, ресторан.
В 1957г. к крылу здания, по улице Коммуны (сейчас — Московская), по проекту архитектора, Бориса Александрова, сделали пристройку, значительно увеличившую число номеров в гостинице. При этом была утрачена двусторонняя симметрия здания. Также, в годы Великой Отечественной войны, застеклили венчавшую центральную часть здания, открытую галерею. Сегодня гостиница остается одной из самых старых в областном центре.
