«Честно говоря, я очень счастлив. Чувства смешанные: мне и грустно, потому что я знаю, что больше никогда не смогу испытать такие эмоции. Я больше не мог играть на том уровне, на котором хотел.
В последние сезоны у меня закончились силы: тело не всегда слушается меня так, как хотелось бы, да и голова тоже. Я всегда мечтал завершить карьеру на своих условиях, чувствуя себя хорошо, чувствуя, что я по-прежнему конкурентоспособен… И именно этого мне удалось добиться в этом году.
Для меня это идеальный финал, финал мечты. Завершить карьеру в Швейцарии, перед таким количеством людей, с такой теплотой и любовью, которые я получил от публики и турнира… Я бы никогда не мог представить себе ничего подобного.

«Нужно просто стараться изо всех сил. Даже если корт медленный или быстрый — я побеждал на разных кортах и на разных покрытиях. Мне просто нужно было выложиться по максимуму и привыкнуть к условиям, потому что непросто, когда в воскресенье играешь на одном корте, а в среду — уже на другом. Это хорошая победа, жду следующего матча».
В воскресенье Медведев стал чемпионом турнира ATP250 в Алматы. В следующем матче он сыграет с Кэмероном Норри.
Вторая ракетка мира Александр Зверев объяснил, почему турниры ATP500 нравятся ему больше «Мастерсов».
Считаю, что сейчас турниры ATP500 даже интереснее «Мастерсов». Я говорю это с точки зрения зрителя, теннисного болельщика. Уже в первом круге мы увидели матч Алькарас – Хачанов, был матч Пол – Рублев. На «Мастерсах» такие встречи возможны только на второй неделе, начиная с третьего круга.
По словам теннисиста, с точки зрения болельщика это делает соревнования невероятно интересными.

Сейчас я особо об этом не думаю, потому что знаю, что это произойдет. Для меня это не такая уж важная мысль. Случится это на этой неделе или на следующей – в конечном счете разница небольшая.
Конечно, было бы здорово добиться этого уже на этой неделе. Было бы очень здорово сделать это здесь, в Вене, но в целом для меня мало что изменится. Эмоционально это меня не особенно затрагивает.
