На Западе Liber Pontificalis приписывает Феликсу указ в 269 году, что литургии надлежит проводить на могилах мучеников («Hic constituit supra memorias martyrum missas celebrare»).
В 419 году Карфагенский собор в 94-м правиле постановил, чтобы если храм построен, но при нём нет мощей мучеников, то такой храм вместе с алтарём должен быть разрушен (если возможно, то местным епископом)

Сия славная святая была сербского происхождения. Родилась она в городе Епиват (Пиват, по-турецки Боядос), между Силимврией и Царьградом. Родители святой Параскевы были богатыми и благочестивыми христианами. Кроме Параскевы, родился у них сын Евфимий, еще при их жизни принявший монашество, а затем ставший знаменитым епископом Мадитским.
По кончине родителей девица Параскева, всегда желавшая подвижнической жизни ради Христа, оставила родной дом и ушла сначала в Царьград, а потом в Иорданскую пустыню, где подвизалась до самой старости. Кто смог бы передать все труды, и злострадания, и демонские искушения, которые претерпела святая Параскева в течение многих лет? На закате жизни явился ей Ангел Божий и повелел: «Оставь пустыню и возвратись в свое отечество: подобает тебе там предать свое тело земле, а душой перейти ко Господу».
Святая Параскева вняла гласу с небес, покинула свою любимую пустыню и вернулась в Епиват. Там, прожив еще два года, опять-таки в непрестанном посте и молитве, предала она дух Богу и перешла в райские селения. Упокоилась сия святая в XI столетии.
Ее чудотворные мощи были переносимы в Царьград, потом в Тырново, затем снова в Царьград и наконец в Белград. Ныне почивают они в Румынии, в городе Яссы. В Белграде находится вода (агиасма) преподобной Параскевы, чудодейственно врачующая тех недужных, которые притекают к сему источнику с верой в Бога и с любовью к этой святой подвижнице
