В сей день совершаем празднование иконе Божией Матери "Спорительница хлебов".
Образ написан по благословению старца Введенской Оптиной пустыни иеросхимонаха Амвросия (23.XI.1812 - 10.X.1891). Иконой "Спорительница хлебов" отец Амвросий благословил основанную им недалеко от Оптиной пустыни Шамординскую женскую обитель в честь Казанской иконы Божией Матери.
На этой иконе Божия Матерь изображена сидящей на облаках. Ее руки распростерты на благословение. Внизу - сжатое поле, а на нем среди трав и цветов стоят и лежат снопы ржи. Старец Амвросий сам указал день празднества - 15(28) октября и назвал образ "Спорительница хлебов", указывая этим, что Пресвятая Богородица - "Помощница людям в их трудах по снисканию хлеба насущного".
"Садясь в лодку, чтоб переплыть на другую сторону озера, думали ли апостолы, что встретят бурю и подвергнут жизнь свою опасности? Между тем, вдруг поднялась буря, и они не чаяли уже остаться живыми. Таков путь жизни нашей! Не знаешь, как и откуда налетит беда, могущая уничтожить нас. То воздух, то вода, то огонь, то зверь, то человек, то птица, то дом, словом, все окружающее вдруг может превратиться в орудие смерти нашей. Отсюда закон: живи так, чтоб каждую минуту быть готовым встретиться со смертью и небоязненно вступить в ее область. Сию минуту жив ты, а кто знает, будешь ли жив в следующую? По этой мысли и держи себя. Делать все делай, что следует по порядкам жизни твоей, но никак не забывай, что можешь тотчас переселиться в страну, откуда нет возврата. Непамятование о сем не отдалит определенного часа, и намеренное изгнание из мысли этого решительного переворота не умалит вечного значения того, что будет с нами после него. Предав жизнь свою и все в руки Божии, час за часом проводи с мыслию, что каждый из них час последний. В жизни от этого умалится число пустых утех, а в смерти неиссчетно будет вознаграждено это лишение радостью, которой ничего нет равнаго в радостях жизни".

С великим трепетом и благоговением наши предки именовали Русь Домом Божией Матери. И это не было горделивым превозношением. В этих словах верующий русский народ выражал свою смиренную благодарность Царице неба и земли за Ея великие и богатые милости, свидетельствовал о них перед другими народами и выражал свою любовь к Той, Которая многократно приходила ему на помощь в трудные моменты...
Совершая ныне новое сретение Иверской иконы Божией Матери, мы твердо верим, что, как в былые времена, Пресвятая Богоматерь, Которая множество раз являла Свои предстательство и милосердие в бесчисленных Своих иконах, не оставит и впредь град наш, страну нашу Российскую и народ ее Своим Покровом".
" 25 октября 1995 года с Афона в Москву прибыл новый список чудотворной Иверской иконы, написанный монахом-иконописцем Лукой из афонского Ксенофонтова монастыря, в сопровождении двенадцати насельников Святой Горы во главе с архимандритом Василием.
Благая Вратарница вернулась на главные ворота Своего города. С радостью и благоговением встретили москвичи вновь обретенную святыню у входа в Богоявленский патриарший собор, под звон колоколов и пение тропаря внеся ее под своды храма для всеобщего поклонения. Всю ночь перед Иверской иконой Божией Матери непрерывно совершались молебны и читался акафист.
А следующий, знаменательный день - 26 октября положил начало неиссякаемому потоку православных христиан к чтимой иконе Заступницы и Хранительницы нашей не только в настоящей, но и в будущей вечной жизни".
Сегодня Церковь торжественно празднует принесение в Москву образа Божией Матери "Иверская" (1648 г.)
"От святой иконы Твоей, о Владычица Богородица, излечения и лекарства в изобилии подаются всем с верой и любовью приходящим к ней. Также и мою болезнь посети и душу мою помилуй, Благая, и тело излечи благодатью Твоей, Пречистая" (Тропарь).
Иверская икона Божией Матери, находящаяся на Афоне, прославилась многими чудесами. Слух о чудотворном образе через паломников распространился по России. Святейший Патриарх Никон (тогда еще Новоспасский архимандрит) обратился к архимандриту Иверского Афонского монастыря Пахомию с просьбой прислать список с чудотворной Иверской иконы. Афонский инок Иамвлих написал копию образа, и через год икона прибыла в Москву.
13 (26 н/ст) октября 1648 года она была торжественно встречена жителями столицы.

Царицею Ириною созван был Седьмой Вселенский Собор в 787 г. в городе Никее, на который явились 367 отцов. На Соборе была осуждена иконоборческая ересь и установлен Догмат о почитании святых икон.
Протопресвитер Фома Хопко: "Мир иконы – человеческий, но в то же время «наполненный Богом»; земной, но – и небесный; физический, но – и духовный; «несущий свой крест», но – и исполненный благодати, мира и радости. В этом и заключается истинный реализм иконы, столь отличный от обыкновенного изображения".
