XstereO for iOS.

Funny story - I made a record for this application in the App Store Connect on December 18, 2014. Today, on February 10, 2026, I released the first version of it.

I had XstereO Player app for Mac OS X at that time, and I wanted to make an iPhone version of it. The time goes by, and I had more interesting things to do all those years. HDR technology pushes me to finalize this work! The problem was that I can view pictures and videos in HDR since I got the iPhone 12 Pro, and I love it, but I can’t show that effect to anybody else. There are still only a few social networks that support this format for pictures, and all of them still do it unstable. They show randomly HDR or SDR, or show recompressed HDR with a shallower effect. Additionally, more and more such services become inaccessible in my region.

So, with XstereO on iPhone, you can view flat pictures and side-by-side stereo pairs in HDR and SDR modes. You can load them from your local media library or from the web.

💡
First use case, that I use most of the time: you shoot some stereo pairs with your iPhone swinging from left to right. Then open all your takes inside XstereO choosing "Left & Right pairs" mode. Scroll through them forward and backward, compare and delete imperfect pairs; they will be deleted from your Photos at this moment.

💡
Second use case: to view stereo pairs or flat pictures in various formats placed on the websites. This feature migrates here from the old XstereO app for Mac, but with HDR support now! In this mode, captions may be available for each picture if they are present on the web page. You can share direct links to some web pages by adding "xstereo:" prefix before the address. Or, compatible with the social networks method: "https://urixblog.xom/xstereo.php?[your web page]&thumbnail=[path to jpeg]". This method supports preview of your web pages in posts and optional custom thumbnail image. Why you need a custom thumbnail image - social networks do not support AVIF format, so you need to provide JPEG for them.
